Hi, this is Hazel speaking! I’ve been considering myself as a reader since I was little. My parents are two passionate readers, and we have a huge bookcase in our living room. We enjoyed going to bookstore on weekends. What’s funny is, they never prohibit me to read inappropriate pieces (like novels with some violent or erotic contents) though they should have to do so. I think that’s why I’m more mature than my same-aged friends lol. As time went by, I grew up as a student, and writing became a crucial skill for me. It dawned on me how much reading affects writing. Those who didn’t develop reading as a hobby found it exhausting and thus often gave up on it. Except for academic writing, I love to record my daily life by text. In other words, writing is one of my habits and I consider it as a way to let emotions run wild. However, I always think my English writing skill is poorer than Chinese.
